Delivering/Collecting Wheelie bins – Using Tail Lift vehicle Slips/trips & falls Crushing or Trapping Injuries Injuring Public/Staff when opening doors/lowering tail lift. Container roll aways

Vehicles maintenance carried out in accordance with Operators licence or for non-O Licence vehicles in line with manufactures guidance.

• Only trained and competent staff permitted to operate tail lift • Staff to wear PPE including gloves and safety boots • Ensure tail lift is locked in the closed position when moving the vehicle. • Never drive with the tail lift down • Carry out pre use inspections • Report all defects • Ensure that the vehicle is on level ground • Ensure that tail lift is not overloaded • Ensure load is evenly distributed • Ensure loads are secured with straps when transporting at all times. • Allow for enough room to stand on tail lift away from edge • Only operator to stand on tail lift and operate controls • Apply brakes if fitted to wheelie bins when on the tail lift. • Only stack empty wheeled bins – max two high • Containers to be separated at ground level • Never jump from a tail lift • Ensure feet and hands are clear of any trapping areas. • Never put your hands in moving parts or remove safety guards • Always isolate the tail lift when not in use or vehicle in transit.
