This method statement relates to the collection of waste, recyclables and bulky waste items from customer premises using a refuse collection vehicle (RCV) or other suitable vehicle type i.e. tail lift box van.

Emergency Action
See Site Emergency plans (displayed throughout Internal facilities) If at 3 rd party site – Refer to Site Rules Contact site manager/supervisor when safe to do so in the event of the following incidents: • Accident or injury • Environmental Incident (i.e. fuel spillage, hydraulic fluid spillage, fire) • Vehicle fire - Stop vehicle and evacuate upwind.

Personal Protective Equipment to be used (minimum requirement):
Safety Boots – EN345 Hi-visibility Vest or Hi Visibility Work Wear – EN471 Work trousers, Gloves – BSEN388 Staff are also supplied with hearing protection and hard hats.
Where site rules dictate a higher standard of PPE, staff will be required to abide by these requirements.
Equipment Used
• Refuse Collection Vehicle (RCV) - used exclusively for wheeled bins, sack collections and clearances or bulky items. • Top Loader Refuse Collection Vehicle – used exclusively for the collection of glass recycling. • Box vans/flatbed vans with tail lifts – used for the collection and delivery of wheeled containers and bulky collections.
All collections are allocated on to a geographical route or round; jobs are allocated according to the proximity of existing customers.
Waste / recyclables may be contained in wheeled bins, bags or if a clearance loose.
Wheelie bins used by The Recycling Partnership come in two forms, 4 wheeled or 2 wheeled.
