4.2. Local & Regional Growth Fort Worth is the fastest-growing city among the top 30 most populous cities, with a 2.2% increase in the past year and a 6.5% rise since 2020. The City is projected to grow by over 300,000 new residents over the next twenty- five years—equivalent to adding a major US city to our community. Figure 4.1 illustrates the level and geographic distribution of population growth over the next 25 years. This growth directly shapes how the City prioritizes, funds, and delivers transportation investments. The MTP focuses on building the project pipeline needed to keep pace by identifying the corridors, intersections, bridges, and connections that will carry Fort Worth through the next two decades of regional expansion. Rather than another long-range vision, this effort connects planning with capital project delivery. This Plan delivers a data-driven, well- defined program of projects ready for design, funding, and construction, positioning the City to accommodate growth.
During the development of this plan, Fort Worth rose from the nation’s 12th-largest city to its 10th-largest.
