Developed Areas Figure 4.3 illustrates Fort Worth’s built environment, which encompasses a diverse and expansive geography, including Fort Worth’s urban core, suburban neighborhoods, and its ETJ. The ETJ spans approximately 265 square miles—nearly the size of El Paso—and plays a critical role in shaping regional travel patterns and future infrastructure needs. The inclusion of surrounding counties in the study area reflects Fort Worth’s position as a regional anchor, with key corridors such as US 287, US 377, and SH 114 serving as vital links for commuters and freight.
