Councillor’s Corner by Michelle Graham As we continue to build our new team at the Municipality of Central Elgin (MCE), we would like to welcome Carla Leitch as our HR Manager. Carla brings 20 years of experience to the position and has already assimilated well to the new culture at the municipal offices. I am eager to see her utilize her proficiency and skillfulness to take the lead in reorienting our HR department. A Governance Committee, consisting of myself, the Deputy Mayor and Ward 4 Councillor David Connors, was established in September 2024. JAN FEB MAR OCT NOV DEC MAILING MONTH We are entering budget season and we look forward to delivering a fiscally responsible budget to our ratepayers for our third year in a row. It is the main priority of the majority of Council to ensure that staff seek all cost-saving measures with innovative and visionary thinking. Thus far in our term, we have achieved significant cost savings for our ratepayers on the Front Street project, the Turvey Park lighting project, fleet management and, most recently, taking a cue from the City of Toronto, by refurbishing one of our fire trucks. The majority of Council will remain committed to promoting fiscal responsibility when reviewing all staff recommendations. A thriving future is shaped by critical thinking!
