legal and civic associations. Orr was affiliated with the AME church since his childhood. He was active with St. Luke AME Church in East St. Louis, where he served as a trustee, attorney and a delegate to many of its conferences. Orr’s efforts were instrumental in the purchase of the Greater St. Luke AME Church. He was a member of four bar associations and the American Judica- ture Society. He was a member of the Tyree Consistory, Aahmes Temple No. 132 of the Shrine and Past Exalted Ruler of Hercules Lodge No. 90, I.B.P.O.E. of W. Other past positions Orr achieved include: Noble Father of St. George Lodge of the Odd Fellows and Past Wor- thy Patron of Queen Elizabeth Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star. Addition- ally, Orr was a 33 rd Degree Mason and Deputy Grand Master, past member of Southern Cross Lodge No. 112. In addition to the aforementioned high ranks with multiple organizations, Orr was elected to serve the fraternity at the local and Grand Chapter levels as well with fraternity national committees. He was elected to the office of Polemarch for the Indianapolis (IN) Alumni Chap- ter and was one of few who served as Junior Grand Vice Polemarch and served as an Alumni Grand Board member (1937, 1938) and as Senior Grand Vice Polemarch (1939, 1940). He served on numerous national committees includ- ing the Committee on Laurel Wreath Standards, the Diggs Memorial Com- mission, the Achievement Commission and the Committee on Constitutional Amendments. Orr entered the Chapter Invisible at the age of 54 on September 5, 1961, shortly after attending the Golden Anniversary of Kappa Alpha Psi ® in Indianapolis, Indiana. Following his death, the East St. Louis Housing Authority named the new 600-unit public housing the Orr- Weathers Apartments, in honor of Orr and Dr. Henry H.
