The Kappa Alpha Psi ® Foundation

T he Kappa Alpha Psi ® Foundation's Celebration of Achievement Luncheon was held on, Wednesday, July 31, 2019 at the Pennsylvania Convention Center. This is one of two national signature events which are a component of the founda- tion's national philanthropic strategy entitled "A New Way Forward." The focus of this luncheon was to celebrate the achievements of our young scholars, distinguished members of the Philadelphia community and local organizations who make a tremendous difference in the lives of others. Highlights of the luncheon include the oratory of Rev. Dr. Howard-John Wesley, Pas- tor of Alfred Street Baptist Church in Alexandria, VA, the disbursement of $70,000 in scholarships to high school graduates and currently enrolled undergraduates as well as awards presentated to local community organizations. Over the last several years, the foundation has raised the bar of performance by sup- porting more students financially in their educational journeys, and helped to underwrite community causes that align with its mission of service to others on behalf of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. The foundation's goal is simple: focus on what matters most in giving to ensure that our young men and women of color have the encouragement, financial means and men- torship to help them create a better society in which to live here in America. Over the past year, the foundation has supported and given to the following programs on behalf of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc.: • Kappa Kamp at Paul Quinn College for over 100 young men between ages 10 through 17 • Disaster Relief in support of citizens in Alabama, Florida, the Virgin Islands, Missis- sippi, Texas and Louisiana • Undergraduate Leadership Institute training for over 150 undergraduates from around the country • The Orlando Union Rescue Mission for the homeless in Florida • The Kappa League Mentorship Program across the country for boys in grades 6 through 12 • The Smithsonian National Museum of African American History & Culture

• Multiple High School Scholarships totaling $100,000 • Over $100,000 in national undergraduate scholarships

• Grant support for Naviance College preparation from the Kellogg Foundation • Grant support for mental health and self-esteem programs for young African Ameri- can males from the Kenan Foundation
