Final Thoughts on Kappa Alpha Psi's Influence
knows it. But moving forward, we want to see a lot more activities and because you have such small fac- tions of all the African American led organizations here, we'd like to do stuff together as well bond together and do big things. One of the things as Governor I am trying to get is: I'm trying to get a 'Black Greek Weekend in the Virgin Islands' and encourage all our fraternities and sororities to participate in what we're doing here, whether it is a golf tournament, a concert…just a nice good weekend of activities for the Alumni Chapters and the under- graduates."
"I think to get involved early, get exposure and get experience in influ- encing people, presenting are all key. The other thing is, you got to find out what makes people tick. I think the psychology classes are always good. Also, get in the mix. Network, Net- work, Network! It is about who you know. You have opportunities to meet incredible people when you're at a university. We don't always take ad- vantage of it. Go to see that speaker. Get a chance to talk to them, to take advantage of opportunities that the university has. Go out and get exposed. Go to the Chamber of Commerce and the Rotary Clubs and those types of things where students will ordinar- ily go to meet people influencers. People who are successful always want to talk about themselves. Just ask them questions, and they will go on and on about how they got where they got. Those are the kinds of tools that I learned and that I pass on to my two girls."
"Kappa Alpha Psi has been an incredible influence in my life and I am constantly blown away by the camaraderie and the constant strive for achievement in every field of endeavor. You know, it's something I learned in college: to be persis- tent, how to stick with something through the toughest of odds, how to come through for people who are counting on you and work as a team. That's something I wouldn't give up for the world and I love be- ing a Nupe!"
Last Book Read
"It is called Abundance. The book talks about how there's re- ally no scarcity, that any scarcity is replaced by ingenuity. So, if we run out of one thing, people will invent a way to find something else. Just as coal was replaced by gas which was replaced by solar and wind and now hydrogen. The world really doesn't lack the resources, just a lack of willingness to share. So it is a really good book."

Hobbies
"I'm an avid cyclist. I do like to ride end to end in St. Croix. I have a bicycle in St. Thomas, as well as in St. Croix. My daughter got me into scuba, so I do that as well. I like to play golf but I'm not really good at it. Those are the things I like to do and my favorite thing in the world to do is the New York Times Sunday crossword puzzles. So, I'm an avid reader, but I read so much law stuff you know, when I don't have to read, I don't read at all anymore."
