Detroit (MI) Alumni Chapter On the Move By Harrison R. Duke III

and awarded Alumni Chapter of Year. At the 85 th Grand Chapter Meeting, DAC sponsored National Student of the Year winner Lawrence Gilliam, and Brother Gregory Jackson was awarded the Laurel Wreath. Moving into our 101st year, newly elected Polemarch Glenn Moore, has set a number of goals and objectives for the chapter to achieve. • Develop an actionable plan and decide what to do the Historical Detroit Kappa House, our home for 76 years. • Formalize a chapter strategic plan- ning process and begin developing a chapter strategic plan to provide guidance and a clear direction for the future • Improve operational effectiveness and technology utilization given the new normal

• Establish a compliance, risk man- agement committee and get into alignment with Grand Chapter • Form a Millennial committee and develop ways to better attract and retain younger brothers • Increase collaboration with the Kappa Detroit Foundation These objective are integrated into our current programs and policies of community service, training for leader- ship, supporting undergraduate affairs, supporting Northern Province and Grand Chapter programs, acknowledg- ing “honorable achievement in every field of human endeavor” of chapter members. MTA Chairmen Randy Brooks guided and mentored 25 new initiates into our Nobel Bond this fall. An outstanding class of achievers that will assist the fraternity grow, enhance DAC and the Northern Province. The

The Reclamation committee chaired by Brother Troy Christian has held several successful events to reclaim brothers; sip and fellowship, footballs games and a spade tournament. The Epi- curean committee chaired by Brother Homer Harvey served Christmas dinner followed by fellowship with the resi- dents of Brush Manner an assisted living facility sponsored by DAC. This is an on going program serving meals for the residents on nationally recognized holi- days by DAC over the years. My Kappa Brother’s Keeper committee chaired by Brother Stanley Gains delivered Christmas gifts to shut-in brothers and widowed silhouettes. Traditionally the brothers would visit those men that are shut-in, fellowship and sing Kappa songs. Pandemic protocols would not al- low us to follow traditions this year. Detroit Alumni is on the move, just months into our new year. Men of distinction. Detroit Alumni Chapter, Flagship of the Northern Province, is working diligently to successfully serve and carry out the business of Kappa. “We all drink from the same canteen.”
