The Word of Life Experience: Fall 2026

“The student lounge and café have reshaped my daily routine, encour- aging me to start my mornings with breakfast and prayer alongside other students. This new environ- ment has strengthened our sense of community and helped us feel like a family. It has also helped me grow person- ally and academically, giving me spaces to focus in the library, engage with others in the lounge, and truly rest in my room. Overall, the Student Life Center has created a more connected, intentional, and supportive environment that has deeply impacted my experience.” – Jennifer Winegeart

Between classes and service assignments, students fill the lounges playing ping pong, studying together, and talking about life. What once may have been isolated moments in dorm rooms have become opportunities for deeper connection and encouragement.

“At night, after in-dorms, there are always a few people in the hallways – talking, playing games, debriefing about their day, or simply enjoying each other’s presence. It’s in those simple, in-between moments that the community feels the strongest. ” – Emily Collins

A Place to Belong One of the most meaningful aspects of the new Student Life Center has been the way it brings students together naturally. “Sometimes we just chat; sometimes we pray; some- times we laugh, and sometimes someone just needs a hug or a shoulder to cry on,” shared student Emily Collins. “It’s such a sweet picture of community.”

Emilie Harwell

“I used to not get up for breakfast, but now I’m up almost every morning… and have the opportunity to do my quiet time as I enjoy breakfast in the café. I feel like I have really gotten to know my peers and have the opportunity to see them outside of class time because we now share a living space. We interact so much more and get to hang out and study together in the lounge spaces, which has been so nice.” – Emilie Harwell
