The Saudi traveller unpacked From hotel-led escapes and supermarket safaris to AI planning and bite-sized luxury, these are the habits behind the journey S audi travellers are travelling further, booking smarter and becoming far more selective about what deserves their time and money. A standout hotel can determine the destination, a supermarket can become a cultural attraction and one perfectly timed night of luxury may matter more than an entire five-star holiday. Across the journey, they are balancing careful spending with selective splurges, detailed planning with spontaneity and family traditions with a growing appetite for independent discovery. Ipsos’ latest KSA study captures that mix. The average international trip lasts 13 days, involves three people and carries a daily budget of SAR1,000 (US$266). Yet there is no single Saudi traveller type. Some 67% stick to a budget, 62% leave room for spontaneous activities and 61% build their own itinerary. Almost half travel solo, while luxury accommodation and budget-friendly stays attract an almost even share. The modern Saudi traveller is considered, confident and increasingly difficult to categorise.
SUMMER CAME IN HOT As summer 2026 draws to a close, search behaviour points to two strong instincts. Saudi travellers continued to favour easy-to-reach breaks with good air connections and straightforward planning, while longer-haul journeys earned more time and a bigger sense of occasion. Wego found that nearby trips were planned more flexibly, while travellers tended to allow longer stays for faraway destinations. The season also confirmed that booking late does not mean travelling without intent. In June, 44% of Saudi travellers were still planning their holiday and 37% were keeping arrangements open. Group dynamics played a major part: 46% said organising a group trip was more stressful than moving house, while 35% found agreeing the budget the hardest task. Wego’s summary was neatly put: Saudi travellers were focused on “convenience, value and meaningful experiences”.
