LEON MARCEL BERNIQUEZ It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Leon Marcel Berniquez, who left us peacefully on December 11 th , 2024, at the age of 87, in his hometown of Hawkesbury, Ontario. He was born on August 2, 1937, to Edward Berniquez and Beatrice Chevrier. Leon, known for his loving of nature, was married to Yolande (Quann), who predeceased him, and together they built a life defined by mutual respects and unwavering support. Leon’s gentle demeanor and loving heart were the cornerstones of their union and remained a comforting legacy after Yolande’s passing. Cherished father to Line (predeceased), Francine (Bob) and Marc (Jane). Adored Pappy to Jeff, Sylvain (Catalina), Nicholas (Erin), Selene, Zachary, Nicholas, Michaela and Noah and Great-Pappy to Olivia, Lila, Mya Lincoln and Anais. As the oldest of 14, Leon’s absence will be felt deeply by his remaining siblings as he joins those who have passed before him: Simone Lucienne, Lucien (predeceased), Gerard, Real, Gregorie (predeceased), Raymond (predeceased), Ernest, Michel, Micheline, Monique, Nicole and Carole. He also leaves behind to mourn his brothers-in-laws and sisters-in-law as well as many nieces and nephews. Whether it was sharing a story of his days operating heavy equipment for the National Capital Commission or his time spent as a delivery driver for Canada Bread, what was most apparent through the years was Leon’s pride in everything he did. Our family would like to express the warmest, most sincere gratitude to the staff at Manor McGill for their dedication and attention paid to our dear father. Your affection and kindness were a constant support throughout the years where he happily lived with you, a huge thank you to all of you. As we say goodbye to our beloved Dad and Pappy, we reflect on a life well-lived and a man well- loved. A celebration of Leon’s life will be held at a later date.
