Just a pair of Gloves Just a pair of gloves
To the unknowing eyes Nothing special at all Used them to swat flies One Christmas it started
A pair of white leather gloves for a present And soon the gloves and I never parted. I had no clue what this really meant As a young man wanting to conquer the world I thought I was invincible Fresh out of college Knowing I had learned everything and more And yet I had no clue what was in store. Starting farming in the 80’s was rough Wouldn’t have made it without family
A little girls smile, a little boys hug A loving wife that was really tough Christmas was near And I thought and I wondered Why gloves for a present? Glanced into dads eyes and knew
I was a man in his eyes and shouldn’t be blue I’m still getting white leather gloves for Christmas Look forward to it every year Still remember that look As I hold them close and dear! Jeff
