Alleynian The Little
Issue 4, 2019
400 years ago Edward Alleyn had a dream about starting a school 27 years ago Ann Christine Andersen had a dream about opening DUCKS 4 years ago Nicky Black had a dream about producing the ‘Little Alleynian’ What will your dream be? We began our year with the ‘Blue Planet’ and we heard cries of ‘Don’t use that plastic bag Dad!’ We were enthralled at the secrets that the deepest oceans held, and we searched for ways in which we could save our sea life from the expanding plastic mountain. ‘Our Dulwich, Our Home’ opened the door to reflect on our local heritage. Marmalade sandwiches and blue plaques celebrating local heroes formed our historical enquiry. ‘Innovation and Invention’ drew the themes together and we have marvelled at the way in which inventions have shaped our lives. Architecture and design have enabled our children to dream of ways in which we can innovate to shape our future by building on ideas of the past. To our Year Two of 2019, I would like to say this: It doesn’t matter how big or small the dream. What matters is that you have them. Little Alleynian Issue 4, 2019 “Well, maybe it started that way, but doesn’t everything? Those buildings. These lights. This whole city. Somebody had to dream about it first.” Roald Dahl, James and the Giant Peach
