narrator, and this is what I tried to create in my story, except by more abstract means, describing deities and complex emotions. I wrote the piece aware of a single setting and event, adhering to notional short story fundamentals. The short time-scale in addition to this intensifies the story as a whole, condensing the emotions generated into a smaller section of the greater picture, by only portraying a relatively small part of a story; it gives room to be more expressive and descriptive with the writing. To conclude, my story is one with disturbing undercurrents and an unsettlingly intelligent, or merely imaginative, young protagonist. The surreal setting and events are defined by this infant, and how he perceives his world around him. Murakami was the main inspiration for this concept of mercurial fantasy, with Greene providing a point of stimulus for the puerile narrator.
