April 2026 Vol. 27 iss. 4

Not Witchy… But Not Opposed Either A Little Extra Prosperity for April Let’s clear something up right away. I am not a witch., I don’t own a spell book. I don’t track the moon phases. And the only crystal in my house is probably attached to a light fixture. But if someone tells me that sprinkling cinnamon on a dollar bill might help bring a little extra money my way? I’m not saying no. April does something to us. The windows are open. The air smells like rain instead of snow. We start cleaning out closets, planting flowers, and telling ourselves this is the month we “finally get organized.” And if we’re being honest… we all want a little extra. A little extra savings. A little extra breathing room. A little extra in the checking account that doesn’t immediately have a bill attached to it. So while we’re planting seeds in the garden, why not plant a little hopeful intention too? Not spooky. Not serious. Just playful, lighthearted, and maybe a tiny bit cinnamon-scented. The Cinnamon Dollar Trick On the first of the month, take a $1 bill and write a num- ber on it. Maybe it’s your savings goal. Maybe it’s the amount you’d love to see magically appear after paying the electric bill. Sprinkle a pinch of cinnamon on it. Fold it toward you. Slip it into your wallet. Will this replace budgeting? No. Will it make your wallet smell amazing? Absolutely. And every time you open it, you’ll remem- ber you’re working toward something. That alone has power. The Front Door “Abundance” Moment Stand at your front door with a pinch of cinnamon. Gen- tly blow it inside and say: “Abundance flows into this home.” If a neighbor sees you, just wave confidently. Confidence is half the spell. The Sweet Jar for Sweet Results Take a small jar. Add: A coin, A slip of paper with your name, A spoonful of honey. Seal it and say, “May op- portunities and income flow sweetly to me.”Place it somewhere you’ll see it often a desk, a shelf, a window- sill. It becomes less about magic and more about mind- set. Now let’s be clear the real magic is still hard work, smart decisions, supporting local businesses, and show- ing up every day even when it’s not glamorous. But there’s something comforting about little rituals. About intention. About believing that fresh starts are possible. And in a small community like ours, where we root for each other and shop local and show up for our neighbors… Maybe that’s the most powerful kind of magic there is. So no, I’m not witchy. But if wanting a little extra this spring means sprinkling some cinnamon and hoping for the best? I’ll try it. And I have a feeling I’m not the only one.
