DeGrand Angus is a family operation committed to raising top quality seed stock to the cattlemen and women of Montana and surrounding states. Our first purchase of registered Angus was in 1974, by Art’s parents, Arthur & Margaret. The ranch has since expanded, focusing on cattle with a quiet disposition, mod - erate frames, and ones capable of doing their job in Montana’s harsh environment. Many of the bulls in the offering are suitable for heifers, with about 70 bulls with 1.0 or under for birth EPD. As bull breeders, the bulls we raise aren’t pampered to make “numbers” that look good in the sale catalog. They won’t seek creep feed, cover crops, or irrigated pastures because that is never an option for them. Our bulls are never overfed, as it has no practical purpose for the bull to be productive in his lifetime. This goes for our mother cows, too. Additional feed for cows is irrelevant to anything useful to determine her actual performance. For sale day, the bulls will not be clipped . Buyers will be able to see they had a nice winter coat and aren’t a slick haired animal. We want the buyer to see the bulls’ foot development, thus their feet won’t be hidden in deep straw.
