What a historic time to be in the cattle business! Over the past several months we have seen cattle prices we never dreamed were possible at the commercial level. As every- one knows, the size of the American cow herd has dropped to 1950’s level and herd expansion has not taken place in any significant form. All signs right now indicate that the market will be good for the foreseeable future and beyond for those of us that make beef our busi- ness. We are very excited to bring these bulls and heifers to you for your appraisal. After over 30 years in the Red Angus business building our breeding program, I think most will agree this is the best set we have ever offered. Bulls with actual real world performance, size and doability. It has not came easy as we have many times bucked the trends, fads and temptations to jump on the “popu- lar bull of the year” that many have followed. We have selected our breeding stock to perform on our endophyte infected fescue pastures and we have cow families we can trace back 30+ years in our herd. We select herd sires we feel will go head to head with any sire available in an AI catalog. We fully expect the bulls and heifers offered here in our sale to go home to their new owners operation and not only thrive but to also improve the genetics in their prospective herds. The bulls are fed in large pens that are 1/4 mile long so the bulls get plenty of exercise and have free choice hay in front of them at all times. Their feed is carefully controlled to insure that they achieve their maximum genetic potential and not over fed to the point that they will have issues as they go to
work for the new homes. We feed them like we like to buy them. The heifers are fed right with our own replacement heifers as well. Graystone Cattle Co. is solely owned and operated by our family with my wife Kaye and son Wyatt with some added help from my Kelpie stock dog Jet when it comes to moving cattle. Sale day you will likely see my sister, Cindy and Mike running the kitchen for the meal after the sale and my mom, Dorothy, will be there as head dessert maker and social director. Kaye and I hope you can join us for our 8th annual production sale. Please come and enjoy our hospitality and make sure you stay after the sale for the meal! Sincerely , Stuart & Kaye Gilbert & The Entire Gilbert Clan

GCC Yukon Jack is a power house from the ground up and from one end to the other! A true performance bull with the numbers to back it up! Ranking in the top 21% of the breed for WW and YW and top 24% ADG. But what really sets him apart from many of the other bulls that sell across the country is the maternal power that he brings to the table with him. His sire was from an ET mating of two of Canada’s premier maternal animals through Resolution and Mcrae’s Reba. Maternally, he is no less represented maternally by the mating of the bull that brought us to the dance “Conquest 495” and the Belle 38D cow who is a Yukon 199B daughter. If you’re in the beef production busi- ness this fella covers all of the bases! Retaining a 50% semen interest.

GCC Powerstroke 2501 Is a Power Eye son that was popular when we had him in Denver at the NWSS in January where he won his class in the open show. It’s pretty hard to pick a hole in him from the phenotypic stand point, square on all four corners, big top, big quartered, deep ribbed and long spined . He also has a calving ease element to him that many will like. His dam is an eight year old cow that just doesn’t miss and always brings a “good one” up to the scale at weaning time. You could use him on heifers but you will want to breed all of your cows to him too.

Sire Red SSS Endorse 639X
GCC Aftershock 2504 has been one of my favorites since the first time I laid eyes on him. He was in our Reserve Champion pen of three bulls in Denver this past January at the NWSS. I really like the added dimension we get from his sire, SSS Endorse 639X. His dam is a full sister to the Road Warrior bull that was so successful for us and is one of the great cows from the Milk Maid cow family that we have literally built a herd around. He ranks in the top 18% of the breed for WW, 28% YW, 3% YG and 12% REA. There is no guess work in this bulls pedigree. Retaining a 50% semen interest.

Sire SHAG Dos 116 as a Yearling
GCC Rogue 2514 was also in our Reserve Champion pen of three bulls in Denver. His sire is our senior herd sire that walks our pastures, Shag Dos 116 who we purchased from Shaggy Meadows for his power, growth and stature. Frankly, he has done an amazing job for us since his arrival. 2514’s dam is also the maternal grand dam of the Lot 1 bull, a Yukon daughter that would be in a lot of breeders “Donor pens” around the country. Huge cow power with legitimate growth ranking him in the top 22% of the breed for WW, 16% YW, 13% ADG and 6% CW!

Maternal Grand Sire GCC Road Warrior 1628
GCC Ice Man 2530 was the youngest bull in our Reserve Pen of three bulls in Denver and is the first son of our Maverick 353 herd sire to sell. If you need to add some frame into some of these smaller cattle and add growth as well as maternal, check this guy out! We bought his sire, Maverick 353, from S Diamond for his raw performance and growth and got added maternal as a bonus. Ice man’s dam is a Road Warrior daughter out of the great Holly cow that is a staple of our program. His EPD’s reflect his real world performance ranking in the top 4% of the breed for WW, 6% YW, 15% ADG, 10% MILK, 3% CW and 8% REA! Retaining a 50% semen interest.

Sire to Lots 5 & 6 KDS Maverick 353
GCC Viper 2521 is a Maverick son that we are pretty excited about. His dam is a 10 year old cow from one of our oldest cow families and who raised our high selling bull in our sale a few years ago. This cow family has been in our herd since 1990. Viper 2521 is getting noticed by all who have toured the bulls because of his width, performance and overall dimension . I guess that’s what you get when you breed a powerful cow to a powerful bull, I like it! He ranks in the top 23% of the breed for WW, 28% YW, 2% CW and 13% REA.

GCC Top Gun 2524 is a Maverick 353 son who was in the running to be in pen in Denver. You will notice that the Maverick calves have a little more frame to them than the average Red Angus bulls do, precisely the reason we bought him! I believe that to be relevant in the beef business we need to have cattle with frame and real performance. 2524’s dam is a Cutting Edge daughter out of the great Holly cow which in my opinion adds value to him. If you plan to keep heifers (and you should) 2524 will add some extra milk to his daughters too as he ranks in the top 9% of the breed for MILK.

Paternal Grandsire Red BCC Brylor OTM Resolution
GCC Energizer 2529 is a paternal brother to the lot 1 bull. He follows the pattern of being deep ribbed, well rope long and dark colored that his paternal brother does. His dam is a daughter of the SSS Endorse bull and the great Holly cow (notice that the Holly cow keeps popping up in the pedigrees) and could very well be headed to take her mother’s place here. With his 79 lb BW I would think he will be a calving ease, extra maternal breeding opportunity.

GCC Purgatory 2505 is a Dos 116 son that will get your attention in the pens and rightfully so. His dam is from the Lana cow family that has written chapters in our herd throughout the years. His dam had a sole ulcer in her hind foot before weaning so he came in a little lighter than normal but he has made up for it every day since. We will be flushing his grand dam this spring to try and replicate the great daughters she has left in our herd. Real cow power and performance are steeped into this bulls lineage.

GCC Take Down 2512 is a Shag Doss 116 son who has the distinction of having the great Tarmily N512 as his grand dam, making his dam a maternal sister to the great MImi cow. Make no mistake about it, real cow power packs a lot of punch, especially when you throw in the power house genetics of Dos 116.
GCC Bonanza 2534 is a Dos 116 son you can trust to put pounds into your calf crop. His dam is a daughter of the great Holly cow and the Conquest 495 bull that adds some frame and longevity to her progeny. He ranks in the top 17% of the breed for MILK and 26% for GM index.

GCC Diesel 2543 is the youngest bull in the sale. He is a Maverick son and his dam is a 14 year old Sequoia daughter that has more than earned her right to still be in the herd. She is the maternal grand dam of the Lot 12 bull as well. Diesel 2543 should pass on the growth, mater- nal and longevity of both his sire and dam to his progeny.
GCC Prospector 2507 is the only Yukon son in the sale this year. As you may have guessed by now, we think pretty highly of the Yukon females we have around here. His dam is a Mulberry daughter who’s dam is the great Holly cow that has influenced so many animals in this sale. Prospector 2507 is a super nice patterned bull with balanced EPD’s a cross the board.

Resolution 238K is a bull we bought for the incredible maternal influence he represents in his pedigree. He is an ET son of the 30K Red BCC Brylor OTM Resolution and his dam is the donor dam, Red Mcraes Reba 49W. When Bryan Mackenzie made this mating I’m sure it was with the purpose of making great females. He is also the sire of lots 1,8,9,12 and 24 in this sale. We have used him successfully on heifers for 2 years as well as mature cows with outstanding results but we have taken him about as far as we can at this point. Our loss is your gain on this proven herd sire.

GCC Strawberry Wine 2511 is a 111X daughter that we really think a lot of. Her dam came to us from the Rock Creek herd in Montana and really passes on growth and longevity into her calves. She is from the famed Strawberry cow family and always brings a super nice calf into us at weaning time. An outcross pedigree for many, she is destined to make a cow!
GCC Perfection 2525 is a personal favorite and the very first Maverick 353 daughter to sell. I could not design a better, more trustworthy pedi- gree than this heifer has. They say that if you’re going to have a sale, you have to let some “good ones” go. But I’ll be honest with you, if I win the lottery before the sale, she will be scratched!

GCC Tinsel 2541 is the youngest heifer in the offering as an April born heifer. To say we are excited about her sire, Maverick 353, would be an understatement. We feel that the cow power behind him is elite and fully anticipate his daughters to be awesome cows as they come into production. The combination of Maverick and the old “495” bull assure her future as a brood cow in years to come.
GCC Holly Berry 2517 is another heifer that is hard to let go. If you paid attention during the bull sale you will have noticed that her dam is a very influential cow in our herd. There are certain cow families that keep the wolf away from the door and the “Holly’s” that we have the privilege of owning are certainly that kind!

GCC Reba 2528 is the only daughter of the 238K bull to sell. We bought him for his maternal strength and cow power and will be retain- ing the rest of her sisters. It would be hard to find a more maternal pedi - gree anywhere in the country. Her dam is a 10 year old cow that has earned her place in our herd and we have several daughters of hers.
GCC Fire Queen 2502 is a Big Rock daughter that many will find sale day. She is an outcross pedigree for many, the Fire Berries have been outstanding cows for us over the years. With Big Rock on the top side of the pedigree, I think she will mature into a great breeding piece.

KDS Maverick 353, every once in a while magic happens and you find a bull that suits you to a T. For us Maverick is that bull. Big, stout, correct, bone, extra length of spine and phenotypically great. His first sons and a daughter sell in this sale and we couldn’t be any more pleased with his first calf crop. Use him to add frame, power, dimension, length and maternal to your herd. He ranks in the top 15% for WW, 18% YW, 26% ADG, 4% MILK, 3% CW and 8% REA! A real super star rising!
Shag Dos 116, when we went on the hunt for another big time power bull we found 116 in the Shaggy Meadows sale. Big boned, big footed and outstanding actual performance with a weaning weight of 790 lbs. and a yearling weight of 1368 lbs. His daughters are starting to make their way into the herd now with the oldest being 3 year olds and I like what I am seeing. He ranks in the top 16% ProS, 10% GM, 18% DMI, 10% ME and 24% MARB. Here is a genetic opportunity! In it are a combination of 4 bulls who have impacted the breed over the years. BHR Durango has for sure left a big foot print in the breed siring very nice phenotypical cattle, Card Shark needs no introduction as for years he dominated shows and sale all over the country, GCC Navigator was super successful for us in his show career before we sold him to Blair Ag in Canada and RCRA Dr Know 1E who provided calving ease and performance.
