Mother's Day: Who's Idea Was It Anyway?

Hello Friends, On February 26th, I was invited to speak at St. Joan of Arc in Merrillville…last March 20th at the Porter County RN Club… and last April 30th at the Immanuel Lutheran Elder Joy group. I spoke about Balance and Dizziness...particularly how to conquer dizziness issues and prevent falling. Balance and dizziness issues hit home for me as I myself suffer from occasional dizziness...and so does my mom. Hers is particularly bad when it hits her, and I get concerned about her falling. She lives in a two-story home, and the thought of her negotiating those stairs every day makes me worried. What’s even more alarming is the frequency of falling in older adults. According to the Centers for Disease Control: • 27% of adults age 65-74 years old fall • 30% for those who are 75-84 years old • 37% for those over 85 years old What one of the attendees at St. Joan of Arc told me was particularly eye-opening: “Arlan-it’s not the broken hip, it’s the nursing home I don’t want. I want to remain independent.” I’d like to do my share to help...but I need your assistance. I’m trying to reach out to as many clubs, organizations, and church groups as possible to spread the word about fall prevention, conquering dizziness, and remaining independent. Do you belong to a church group, club, or an organization whose members would benefit from a presentation about Fall Prevention, Balance and Dizziness? If you do, I would love to speak with you. Please email me directly at ArlanAlburo@OrthopedicAndBalanceTherapy.com, or you can reach me directly on my cell phone at 219-577-3533. Sincerely, This issue hits home for me and my mom…and you?
