‘Innovation Simplified’ At Fourth LMAI Conference LMAI, India’s label industry association, recently concluded its fourth conference at the Jaypee Palace Hotel and Convention Centre Agra, the historical city that’s home to the Taj Mahal. The event welcomed more than 550 delegates and sponsors. Pankaj Bhardwaj, Senior Director and General Man- ager, Label and Graphic Materials South, Asia, Avery Dennison, delivered the keynote address. During her presentation, Lisa Milburn, Managing Di- rector Labels Group,Tarsus Group PLC UK, the orga- nizer of the Labelexpo series of events, discussed her organization’s strong and ongoing partnership with LMAI. She also spoke on the forthcoming meeting of L9 (The federation of nine leading global label associ- ations), which is scheduled to be held next year in India. Pradeep Saroha, Country Manager for Labelex- po, gave information previewing Labelexpo Europe in Brussels in September. Conference Chairman Kuldip Goel announced an award for Harveer Sahni of Weldon Celloplast for a “Lifetime in support of the Indian label industry." The first day concluded with an evening sponsored by Bobst Firenze. During the morning of Day Two, Rajesh Nema, sec- retary for LMAI, initiated the conference by showing a video of LMAI activities during the past year. Pawandeep Sahni of Weldon and Paolo Grasso of Omet gave a presentation titled, Simplify Visions, In- novate Processes . Shaun Paullen of Mark Andy spoke on, Turning Market Needs Into Machine Deliverables . After- wards, Amit Ahuja of Multitec discussed waste con- trol. Gavin Rittmeyer of Martin Automatic explained the need for automation and nonstop continuous production to reduce wastage. The concluding session, hosted by SMI Coated Papers, began with a motivational lecture by man- agement guru, Shiv Khera, who spoke for almost three hours. Avery Dennison Innovation Center Gets ISO Accredited Avery Dennison has received ISO 17025 accredita- tion for its Innovation Center in Mentor, Ohio. The scope of the accreditation covers 55 laboratory tests conducted at the facility, for adhesives and pres- sure-sensitive films and label materials.Avery Dennison said ISO 17025 accreditation provides major advan- tages for its customers as it eliminates the need for ad- ditional testing by in-house or third-party providers.
