Montessori and special education. Homeschooling
In 2017, Springfield School District 186 launched an ambitious plan in response to the need to address aging facilities infrastructure, concerns about equity, and the need to create future ready, highly functional learning environments. In the years since, the district has invested heavily on modernizing many of its schools with the first phase
centered on significant upgrades at Springfield High School, including safety and security improvements, reconstruction of the historic portion for modern classrooms, and major renovations to Memorial Stadium. The plan also includes additions and renovations at all middle schools, upgrades to gymnasiums, and safe and secure entrances at many elementary schools.
Homeschooling is an educational choice desired by many families in the Springfield area. Homeschooling families can also join a local co-op or the local arm of the Christian Homeschooling Association.
