THE FUTURE IS ENDLESSLY BEAUTIFUL A Constant Search for Betterment

I was little. As technology improved and I steadily mastered the delicate art of orthodontics, I learned how to avoid the aches and pains associated with getting a straighter smile. Now patients come in and complain that their teeth aren’t hurting enough from the treatment, suspicious that it may not be working. “Well, that’s my system you have in your mouth,” I tell them. It’s the product of an enormous amount of persistent work and study. Pain just doesn’t enter into the equation. Orthodontics is a deceptively complicated field, but after more than 25 years helping patients transform their smiles, it’s become as natural to me as breathing. Still, I never stop researching and discovering new ways to continually improve. To me, the future is endlessly beautiful. If I can stay driven, happy, and excited about what I do every day, this outlook will spread throughout my team and to my patients. After all, I didn’t become an orthodontist just so I could work on people’s teeth. I want to make people happier, healthier, more confident, and successful. I want to create a life worth living not only for myself, but for my patients, my team, and

I’ve spent my long career in orthodontics searching for the best possible treatments, methodologies, and technologies for my patients. Over the years, I met with experts from all over the field. They always displayed their best cases and the intricacies of their techniques, each doctor confident that their approach was the be-all and end-all for the future of the industry. Many of their ideas were promising, but I knew that no matter how well a technique worked in someone else’s hands, it ultimately had to work in my hands away from the hyped-up marketing and selective data. I needed approaches that not only worked, but would consistently provide the highest level of care and comfort for my patients with no compromise in terms of results.

At the beginning, I often became frustrated with the way things were done. It seemed that orthodontists were mostly interested in torturing their patients. They’d ask, “Does this hurt?” and if the patient said no, they cranked up the tension. The thinking went that if the treatment didn’t constantly ache, it wasn’t working. It was clear to me that this wasn’t the only way to achieve a positive outcome for patients. My philosophy is

my community. It may be a lofty goal, but I’ve never been one to shy away from a challenge.

to never treat a patient with anything I wouldn’t want for myself. Fortunately, I’ve had an innate enthusiasm and ceaseless hunger for improvement ever since

MEET MICHELLE LEE!

Our Wonderful Patient Concierge

That’s where Michelle Lee, our patient concierge, comes in. Her bubbly, friendly personality ensures that everyone feels comfortable right away, dispelling any fears a new patient might have about orthodontic care. “I love working with kids and meeting new people,” she says. “I help in the best way I can: talking and laughing with new patients and giving them that feeling like ‘Oh, I belong here!’” It may sound simple, but talk with Michelle for even a single minute and see if you can leave the conversation without a smile on your face — she’s just that kind of person. Though she is one of the newest members of the Alborzi Orthodontics team — she started just last August — Michelle fit into the atmosphere of the clinic almost immediately. “Everybody gets along all the time,” she says. “It’s

all about everybody working together and contributing. Everyone works toward the same goals.” When she’s not at the clinic, you can often find Michelle fishing or hiking around local trails. But no matter what she does, you can bet she’ll bring her keen enthusiasm and fun personality along. Michelle also wanted to highlight the clinic’s newest special offer. For parents of patients considering orthodontic treatment, just ask Michelle, and you can receive a free smile simulation while your child receives treatment! This technology will construct a digital recreation of your teeth and allow us to show you what they’ll look like after you’re done with orthodontic care. Ever since she started, Michelle’s been the perfect addition to our team. We love the way she makes our patients feel comfortable, and we look forward to her continued contributions in the coming years.

At Alborzi Orthodontics, it’s incredibly important to us that every new patient feels welcome. From the first step you take into our office, you should feel a sense of warmth, security, and positivity. After all, we’re here to help!

BEYOND TRADITIONAL BRACES Damon Braces Reduce Pain and Treatment Times

Everyone deserves to have a smile they love. But when most patients consider straightening their crooked, crowded, or misaligned teeth, they assume their only option is a set of clunky, painful, old-school metal brackets topped off with garish elastic bands. They imagine treatment will take years, requiring dozens of trips to the orthodontist to get their brackets tightened, and that each trip will only increase their discomfort.

braces . This reduced pressure allows the blood vessels around the teeth to continue flowing regularly, resulting in a much healthier shifting process. The end result is a straight, natural-looking smile achieved without months of suffering. Best of all, patients who use Damon braces achieve spectacular results in far less time than traditional braces — on average, 37–40 percent less time in treatment, with far fewer visits to the orthodontist. In fact, patients with Damon braces often get their brackets off as many as 6–9 months earlier than patients who go with the traditional approach.

At Alborzi Orthodontics, we offer Damon braces, a superior alternative to traditional braces . These brackets, made of surgical stainless steel, use self-ligating technology, eliminating the need for elastic or metal ties. This means the braces move organically as your teeth shift, and they don’t require regular, uncomfortable tightening sessions at your orthodontist. There’s far less pain involved in the process, and the braces are much more discreet. The primary difference between Damon braces and other options is the amount of force they put on your teeth. The Damon braces used at Alborzi Orthodontics generate 600 times less force than traditional

EARTH’S MOST BEAUTIFUL FLOWER DISPLAYS

WASHINGTON, D.C.

Spring is here, which means flora will soon be in full bloom. Flowers can be an easy pick-me-up or a great way to add color to your home, but some people take their flower obsession to the next level by planning botanical-themed vacations. Here are some of the most impressive gardens and flower displays in the world. Holland, most famous for its tulips, always draws visitors at the first sign of spring. One of its most famous destinations, Keukenhof, located in Lisse, is among the world’s largest flower gardens. The park is 79 acres and boasts approximately 7 million flowers each year. This colorful garden is open annually from mid-March to mid-May, but mid-April is the ideal time to see the tulips. THE NETHERLANDS

Besides the monuments and historic buildings, one of the biggest attractions in Washington, D.C. is the cherry tree blossoms. Travelers who visit the Tidal Basin during the spring can witness 3,000 trees, which were a gift from Tokyo in 1912, flaunt their beautiful pink blossoms. The best time to see the spectacle is from the end of March through the end of April. Desert lavender, flowering cacti, pygmy poppies, and rock daisies are just a few of the many wildflowers decorating Anza- Borrego Desert State Park. The various native species are often seen weaved together to form a colorful carpet over any barren patch in the park, which is located just two ANZA-BORREGO DESERT STATE PARK

hours from San Diego. In addition to flowers, visitors often spot bighorn sheep. Wildflower blossoms vary in intensity each year, but they typically begin to bloom in late February or early March. Next time you’re planning a spring trip, consider visiting one of the world’s most beautiful flower displays. No green thumb required.
