This architecture leverages each switch's native power capabilities while providing a scalable, efficient distribution system that can extend network reach beyond traditional limitations CONNECTING AND POWERING WI-FI ACCESS POINTS AT THE EDGE When deploying Wi-Fi access points beyond traditional copper distance limitations, it would be recommended to combine a CL2 power infrastructure with 10G fiber media converters. Access points with DC power inputs in the 44-57V DC range align perfectly with 56V DC/95W CL2 power units. Deploying a 10G HPoE media converter at the access point location utilizes its dual capabilities of fiber-to-copper conversion and power insertion. Additionally, media converters with watchdog and link fault pass-through (LFP) dip switches provide enhanced monitoring capabilities— automatically resetting PoE power if the data transmission stops and reporting the link status back to the network core.

This architecture provides:

• Extended reach beyond 100 m (328 ft) copper limitations. • Safe, efficient CL2 power distribution. • Full 10G bandwidth support for Wi-Fi 6/6E access points. • Simplified cable management with hybrid infrastructure. • Enhanced monitoring through media converter features. • Future-ready bandwidth capacity for next- generation wireless.

Stephen Eaves is the founder and CEO of VoltServer and is the inventor of Digital Electricity™, a new electricity format generically known as Fault Managed Power (FMP). FMP was adopted into the US National Electric Code in 2023. The company has deployed the technology in over 1000 large venues worldwide. Steve has more than 30 years of experience innovating around electrical energy storage, distribution, and management. Steve has authored or co-authored numerous industry and peer- reviewed papers related to the energy industry and is an inventor on 35 patents.

A typical remote AP deployment would include:

• Hybrid cable running up to 2000 feet from the power supply.

• Intelligent power unit providing 56V DC CL2 power.

• 10G media converter for fiber-to-copper conversion.

• Direct DC power connection to the access point

• Optical fiber/transceivers for high-speed data connectivity.
