A
rtificial intelligence is rapidly reshaping how organisations hire and how candidates must present themselves.
CareersPlus service provides students and alumni with CV workshops, AI prompt training, and one-to-one coaching, helping them to combine automation with critical thinking. 2 . Authenticity is your advantage . another. Global strategy and talent consultants Korn Ferry, who deliver panel events and skills workshops with WBS, note that human authenticity is more important than ever. This creates a paradox: while AI helps candidates optimise content, over-reliance can dilute individuality. To stand out: ■ Focus on specific outcomes and measurable impact. ■ Use AI for structure, but write in your own voice. ■ Avoid generic phrasing and templated narratives. Recruiters increasingly see AI-generated CVs that feel indistinguishable from one Shailza said: “Don’t use AI to write your cover letter, use it to research the organisation and to identify gaps in what they are doing. “Then use AI to brainstorm what you could do to close that gap. Use this to craft three or four very specific sentences about what you would do in the role. It makes your cover letter more personal and shows how much you want the role.” At WBS, we support this through storytelling workshops,

From automated screening to AI-assisted applications, the job search process has become faster and more data-driven. Yet human input remains key. The challenge is not just using AI tools, but using them intelligently. Here are five key lessons for navigating this new landscape. 1 . Stay in control. Shailza – a senior software engineer who completed a Full-time MBA to strengthen her strategic thinking – built a simple AI agent that reduced her preparation time to just 15 minutes per application. This enabled her to devote more time to interview preparation and skill-building. The key is augmentation, not delegation. Poorly guided AI produces generic, inaccurate outputs. The most effective candidates use structured prompts, set clear guardrails such as “Do not invent experience”, and validate outputs. Seek advice on how to use AI tools effectively. At WBS, our
