Scholarship Now in its fourth year, the Synergy Scholarship program awards $1,000 scholarships to outstanding youth. The initiative was launched three years ago by the Smith Family of Smith Genetics and the Nieschwietz Family of 7N Ranch, with the Rodrigo Da Silva Family joining the effort in 2023. These scholarships were established to support young people in their educational pursuits while honoring the legacy of each family involved. With deep, multi- generational roots in agriculture, the families share a strong commitment to encouraging youth participation in farming, ranching, and the promotion of agriculture, no matter what career paths recipients ultimately choose. The Smith Family Scholarship recognizes the lasting contributions of the late Paul and Gertrude Smith. The Nieschwietz Family Scholarship honors the memory of Pete St. Nieschwietz while also celebrating the continuing efforts of Marilyn Nieschwietz. The Rodrigo Da Silva Scholarship was created after Rodrigo judged the program’s first group of candidates and was deeply impressed by their knowledge and communication skills, inspiring him to establish a scholarship in his family’s name.
