The elder girls settled very quickly among us, and were soon quite happy and at home. Nice, well-mannered children who soon made friends with all around them. Their parents knew they would be taught the Gospel, and learn of Christ, but they made ho objection, and it was a real joy to us to know these girls were joining in Chris tian hymns and prayers and being taught o f' Him who is Israel’s Deliverer. They hadn’t been many, months with us before we found them one day weeping in great
education, and he was sent to a Mission School some distance away. Seemwabai was now able to come to reg ular Bible classes and to learn from Soon- derbai herself of the Saviour’s love. From the first she was very responsive, and it was sweet to see her sitting on the ground near her patient teacher drinking in the message of Life, and during our week of prayer last August when clear, definite teaching was given, she stood up and asked us to pray for her that she might be saved.

The father was partially paralyzed and unable to work most of his time, and poor Seem wabai could not get enough to keep them in food. If we meant to win these people for Christ we must do something at once, and it ended in the mother coming daily to do a little sewing and other work in the school so that we could pay her enough to keep them from starving. Two kind friends undertook the boy’s support and Ah, what deep joy filled our hearts and how we praised our God that He did not let us miss this blessed opportunity! She was anxious to confess her Saviour by baptism immediately, but her husband objected and we. fe lt'it better for many reasons that she should wait awhile. For some time I had been troubled about Samuel himself. I knew he was fairly well read, a man bristling with questions, and that it would be no easy task to try and help him.
