Prepare for emergencies now to reduce risk in the future and ensure you and your family can meet your basic needs for at least 72 hours. Build your emergency kit with everything you and your family need for at least three days. Here’s a checklist to help you get started.
Water – 4 litres per person per day Food – Non-perishable (like granola bars, canned goods) First-aid kit Cash – Small bills and coins Keys – For car and house keys Flashlight – With extra batteries Radio – Battery-powered or crank Medications – 3-day supply Phone charger cable and a portable power bank
Important papers – ID, health cards, contact list Personal items – Wipes, sanitizer, toilet paper, toothbrush, soap, etc. Comfort items – Toys, books, games Pet supplies – Food, leash, carrier Basic tools – Multi-tool, duct tape, zip-lock bags, garbage bags, whistle Whistle – To attract attention
