EPA CONVERTER GUIDELINES
O.E. catalytic converters are emission control devices which are designed to last the life of the vehicle and do not normally require replacement. Furthermore, if the vehicle is properly used and maintained, original converters are covered by the emissions control warranty for 5 years or 50,000 miles for 1994 models and older. For 1995 and newer models original converters are warrantied for 8 years 80,000 miles. Also, there must be a legitimate need for converter replacement that has been established and documented. EPA requires using an EPA-compliant catalytic converter catalog with the following references: Make, Model, Year, Cylinder and engine size to find the right part. When complying with California Air Resources Board use a CARB-compliant catalytic converter catalog with the following reference: Model, Year, Cylinder, Engine Size and Engine Family Number (EFN) to find the right part.
