One day while Moses was caring for his sheep he saw a bush bu rn ing ; th ere were flames of fire shooting up from th e bush and yet it was no t burned up. Moses w ent up closer to see th is won derful sight, and while he was looking, God spoke' to him rig h t ou t of th e fire, calling his name. Moses answered, “H ere am I.” God told Moses to take off his sandals, for he was standing on holy ground. Moses took off his san dals and hid his face, for he felt a little scared to be so close to God, for he was taken by surprise. God does no t need to speak to people in th is way today because we have th e Bible which tells us w h at He w ants us to do. (W ere th is tru th emphasized more in teaching children, it would dispel many doubts of th e ju n io r and teen age, and lead to a more earn est search of S cripture to know H is w ill.) Then God told Moses he had seen all th e suffering of his people, and had h eard th e ir prayers, and he was now ready to ta k e them out of th e land of th e wicked king, into a special land God h ad ready for his people. This land was called Palestine. You see boys and girls, God sees every th ing we do, and He h ears every word

she chooses one who is a good w orker and always does as she asks. This wicked king still made the Jews work very hard, and h eat them and killed th e ir babies, b u t he could no t k ill them off for God h ad heard th e ir prayers. God had watched Moses grow up and He knew he was ju st th e very man He needed as a leader to go
