THE K I N G ’ S B U S I N E S S the same. N atu ral and sup ern atu ral laws are one. God has laws th a t are unknown to us, bu t known to Him. To question God’s power to do anything He chooses to do belittles Him, and to ques tion the verity of His Word, belittles th a t Word. W hat is sup ern atu ral to us, is n atu ra l law to God. The ques tion of m iracles is one of your concep tion of God. Every question m ark concerning the goodness and greatness of the governing power of God belittles God and demeans the man who pro jects it. T hat God should work what are called g rea t m iracles, comports w ith the greatness of His person. The resu r rection of Christ is the finality, did He raise Christ from the dead, and if so, why question about th e m inor things? If He did not raise Him, our faith is vain, and th e whole scheme of Scripture salvation falls to th e ground. Here is a wonderful pictu re; God’s people spared from the plagues and the judgm ent of death of th e first-born. Taken into the keeping power of Jeho vah and confronted by death by draw ing in fron t of them , and by th e shackles of slavery by th e enemy be hind them ! Have you noticed how God schools His children? Converts are o fte n : confronted w ith severe tests. Triumphs come by th e road of trial. The first lessons are fundam ental, and foundations m ust be laid deep. In the life of faith, you must learn to walk w ith God and never question the way. It must be learned step by step. There are th ree m arching orders, and all are suggestive: ( i ) F ear no t; (2) Stand still and see; (3) Go forward. F ear is a foe to th e believer. The only th ing to fear is a lack of reveren tial fear of God; a fear to displease Him. His message to Joshua is His message always: “ Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, n either be dis mayed.” Look a t God, not a t the diffi culties or dangers. Stand still and see. Mark time. This is hard for the soldier, bu t th e re is need of prayer, patience

and peace. In standing still we learn to contemplate God. There is th e re st of faith. T hat is th e difference between M artha and Mary. P eter did not know his Lord as John did. Stand still. Why ever fear? His arm s are und ern eath ; He is able. Then, go forward. Face the foe! The easiest way out of most difficulties is to go forward. Be sure you have your orders, th en go ahead. Obey God. You can never fail if you obey Him. W ait un til you have the sure leading from Him, then go on w ithout waiting. Keep your eyes on th e rod, keep your ears open to th e Word and move forw ard a t th e impulse of His will, and it will be victory all th e way. PRACTICAL POINTS (1 ) In your pilgrim life every step is by faith. (2 ) “T ru st and obey, for th e re ’s no o th er way.” (3) It is often necessary to stand still in o rder to see. (4) The rod was a symbol of God’s rig h t to rule. <5) God plowed the way w ith th e wind for Israel, and perm itted P h a r a o h . to plunge to death in th e deep. (6 ) Isra el’s stepping stone was a stum bling stone to Pharaoh. (7 ) Some may have been fearful, bu t they were safe. (8) “ The Lord is my streng th and my song; He is become my salvation.” ■ B i l l (ki> Deliverance by Redemption. Horace Bushnell said, “Christ is re demption only as He actually redeem s and delivers our n atu res from sin. If He is not the law and spring of a new sp irit of life, He is nothing. As many as are led by the Spirit 6f God, they are the sons of God— as many, no more.” The blood of the innocent lamb shed and sprinkled on the door posts of the
