Asian Koel (Eudynamys scolopaceus)
The Koel bird is more often heard than seen. Its loud, rising call echoes through the coconut palms at dawn. Males are glossy black with red eyes, while females are speckled brown. Here, Koels call from the treetops, especially during nesting season. The island’s dense vegetation gives them plenty of cover.
Kids Christmas Party
• Known for their distinct two-tone call • Active during early mornings and late afternoons • Often perch high in trees or near fruiting plants
A magical afternoon for our youngest guests filled with games, music, and sweet treats—where the spirit of Christmas comes alive in every smile. 25 December, Thursday 16:00 Kids Club
If you hear a rising “koo-Ooo,” look up. A Koel is nearby, watching from the canopy.
