Gaafu Dhaalu
Gaafu Atoll (Huvadhoo Atoll) in the Maldives is one of the largest natural atolls in the world.
In 1962, the Maldivian government divided the vast Huvadhoo Atoll for easier administration and governance. The northern section became Gaafu Alif (GA) and the southern section became Gaafu Dhaalu (GDh). What it’s known for: • Pristine Reefs and rich marine biodiversity. It’s a top destination for diving and Snorkeling. • Uncrowded islands and authentic Maldivian culture. Fewer resorts and more traditional island life. • Unique dialect of Dhivehi spoken by locals, distinct from other atolls.
