Distributor & Manufacturer We are a distributor of lab, safety, and packaging supplies as well as a manufacturer of cleanroom garments. We work with over 300 vendors to bring you products to meet your safety needs while strengthening your bottom line. We moved into manufacturing disposable garments in 2002 when a customer needed a stronger supply chain partner for garments. That effort satisfied their government mandates and resulted in a $250,000 per year cost reduction in one business unit. Since 2002 we have added four additional lines of suits, three lines of boot covers, two lines of shoe covers, lab coats, and more. Each new line was created to solve customer’s problems.

The Benefits of Quest Safety’s Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI) Program We focus on you having your products stocked when you need them so your employees can focus on your bottom line.

Increased Customer Care Regular access to Quest’s VMI and customer service team. Product availability boosts the quality of customer service. Reduced Inventory Overstocks & Stock Shortages Not having the right products in stock can impact quality of work. Quest’s VMI can reduce overstocks and stock shortages that cause uncertainty. Improved Operational Efficiencies Quest’s VMI program decreases a Lilly employee’s time to manage product inventory as well as insures consistent supply of the right product at the right time. Onsite Technical Expertise Quest’s experience in VMI allows us to bring our customers better reporting and reduces administrative work so our customers can focus more strategically on areas of their business. Financial Transparency Site-specific reporting and spend usage allows our customers to make better- informed business decisions and eliminate wastage, non-value adding factors, and other costs associated with inventory errors.

Finding Cost Savings through Standardization

Step 1: Understand We first gain an understanding of your business and application needs. It is important to understand what products are being used and why. We work with the end user to understand possible workplace hazards and the features and benefits of the product being used. Step 2: Analyze and Identify We analyze that data we have gathered out in the field. We evaluate the product specs to determine product similarities. Once product similarities are identified, we determine if product consolidation is possible based on the feedback provided by the end users. Step 3: Discuss Throughout the PPE standardization effort Quest works closely with global and site HSE representatives as well as procurement leads. Once the data is collected and analyzed, consolidation and cost information is presented to key project stakeholders. Step 4: Leverage Consolidated usage data is compiled once product standardization is approved. The increased volume is used to negotiate a deeper discount with key manufacturers. Findings are shared with key decision makers. Step 5: Stock and Supply After product SKUs standardized and pricing lowered, Quest works with each site to determine usage levels to avoid stock outages. We create minimum and maximum levels of products to be warehoused at Quest allowing our customer just in time delivery.

Case Study: Custom Solutions for a Better Fit , Inventory Reduction and Increased Safety

Our Solution

The Challenge

A pharmaceutical customer needed boot covers in size small to accommodate the rising number of women joining the company, but their current manufacturer did not offer boot covers in that size. Quest took on this project to design, source, and create a solution that not only accommodated workers who wore size small boot covers but also provide a custom fit solution for almost everyone’s size.

An important part of Quest’s sales process is learning the customers’ application, environment the products are being utilized in, and the challenges the users are facing. We speak with end users, safety, and management to understand the hazard and prescribe a solution. Upon determining the company’s needs for fit and function, Quest redesigned its Traction Boot Cover to add a heel strap that allowed the wearer to create a custom-fitted disposable protection. The heel strap wound around the users’ ankle and calf, providing a snug fit. The snug fit led to decreased slips, trips, and fall. The heel straps provided an additional benefit of keeping protective suit garments secure inside the boot cover.

The Outcome

This new, safer, customizable boot cover changed the game for our customer by:

Better fitting boot covers lead to a safer workday for everyone.

Case Study: Redesigning Animal Handling Gloves for Increased Protection and Dexterity

Our Solution

The Challenge

Quest Safety Team analyzed: • How the gloves were being used

Our customer’s current animal handling gloves gave handlers enough dexterity to work but not enough protection against animal bites. In fact, animals were biting right through the gloves, posing an extreme safety risk. Quest was asked to find new gloves that would both protect handlers and enable them to easily maneuver as they researched as well as be humane to the animals.

• How the handlers moved when wearing the gloves while working with the animals • What the animals did when interacting with the handlers Quest designed a new glove for this customer that matched the dexterity needs of handlers while providing exceptional protection at the same time. The new material was softer, which increased handler’s flexibility and decreased negative reactions from the animals. Structurally, the gloves were altered to provide additional protection in the locations where the handlers were more prone to being bitten. Heavy duty leathers, Kevlar, and extended cuffs offered handlers the comfort and confidence to perform tasks while humanely handling animals.

The Outcome

As a result of Quest’s customer-centric and safety-first approach, our customer:

Thanks to these new gloves, both the handlers and the animals feel empowered to interact safely and confidently.

Case Study: Customer-Driven Solutions for Safety

The Challenge

Our Solution

Lilly was concerned about employee slips, trips, and falls when using their current shoe covers. They needed a shoe cover that could work in both wet and dry environments. The Process Because of the critical environment these employees worked in, Quest did not want to rely on test data produced in generic labs with unknown variables. We believed that this customer needed to test a variety of shoe covers in the same environment where the scientists and manufacturing techs worked every day. The instrument to run these tests had to have the ability to quantitatively measure the coefficient of friction, or grip, of each material being tested. The device would have to be portable as well to allow us to affix various types of anti- slip material to it.

Quest invested in an English XL Machine to quantitatively test and rate the coefficient of friction, or grip, of varying types of foot protection in our customer’s labs and manufacturing areas. This unit met all of the necessary requirements for portability, measurability and versatility. We were able to use this instrument in each and every area that our customer required. The test results we provided the customer allowed them to make quantifiable decisions regarding specific types of foot protection to be used in all areas of their facilities. To insure quality, the customer had their insurance company come in to test our results. With each test our data was validated. Based on the results of this testing, Quest designed a shoe cover to eliminate slips, trips, and falls in both wet and dry environments and provided our customer a $500,000 annual savings.

The Outcome

Case Study: Reconfiguring Products to Create a Safer, More Productive Work Environment

The Challenge

Our Solution

Instead of just recommending a higher-level protective glove to eliminate hand lacerations, Quest met with the customer’s Industrial Hygienist and end users to fully understand their drum process. We learned how they were using the fiber drums, what the process and its ergonomic challenges were like, and how both could be improved. After this extensive research process, we sourced the drums from a new manufacturer and implemented the following changes: • Both the metal ring used on the top and bottom of the drum and the locking mechanism on the lid were replaced with plastic, eliminating exposure to hand lacerations and ensuring total incineration of each drum. • Liners were spun into the drum, eliminating a step for the customer in the handling process. • Extensive price negotiations were conducted with the manufacturer to hold pricing for 24 months.

Fiber drums serve a key function in the pharmaceutical industry; for this client, they were also a source of frustration. They asked Quest to review their program to address: • Safety concerns: end users were experiencing hand lacerations when closing and locking their current fiber drums. • Insufficient incineration: the metal ring around the top and bottom of the drum would not completely incinerate. • Rising costs: drum prices were increasing annually. • Process efficiency: their existing

drum handling process had too many steps; eliminating steps would increase overall productivity for the team.
