Ability to develop, and implement comprehensive Category Leadership Solutions, including facilitating tactics and plans that deliver the Great Local Brands strategy
Foundation Follows basic planning process to meet business needs • Develops business plans collaboratively with suppliers to meet immediate business needs • Uses tools and processes to develop internal category business plans • Adjusts plans as appropriate to changing circumstances • Reviews progress of plans on regular basis and seeks input from key business partners both internally and externally • Builds plans within budget and strategic guidelines • Develops strategies consistent with overall Category plans • Participates in the planning process with insights about the competitive marketplace, omnichannel shoppers/consumers and categories
Advanced Develops and implements Category plans, using strategies and tactics which produce successful results • Develops coherent and cohesive overall Category plans that are practicable and meet broader business objectives, including those for eCommerce • Applies joint business planning principles and implements in a methodical but flexible manner • Analyzes the results of past plans to learn for the future • Adapts business plan to changes in ADUSA strategy • Positions proposals, suggestions, etc. in terms of their alignment with ADUSA’s strategies and needs • Directs the planning process with insights about the competitive marketplace, omnichannel shoppers/consumers and categories • Enhances business plans using category specific information and working collaboratively with suppliers to meet immediate and future business needs • Prepares and presents polished Category Business Plans • Builds category plans that balance volume and profit goals to achieve financial targets
Mastery Develops innovative Category plans which maximize return on investment • Forms courses of action that keep ADUSA ahead of the curve using an understanding of in-store & online trends and their implications • Engages suppliers in strategic thinking, rather than just interacting on a transactional basis • Integrates industry and consumer trends and strategies into Category plans • Ensures executive-level alignment and ownership of Category plans and execution strategy • Anticipates changing in-store & online market conditions and responds with effective action plans • Creates forecasts and models of capital or other investments to support the implementation of plans • Influences leadership in the adoption of proposed plans and strategic category objectives
