why it thrills us to see on our La Mirada campus a blending of not only the academics but also the highest spiritual standards. Biola's sacred commitment is to prepare students in a well-rounded un­ derstanding of not only the world in which they are living but also, and more importantly, the eternal truths of the Word of God. The important thing I want to underscore is the fact that in our ministry we seek to follow the principle carefully established in II Timothy 2:15, "Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman who needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth." There is a danger we face today in that we are fed everything by the news media, radio and tel­ evision and the printed page — and we do not want to have to think. The Bible says that we are to study, to give diligence, to con­ sider all of these aspects of our lives that we may understand what

One of the things that pleases me to be affiliated with Biola is the fact that this is one of the appar­ ently few schools where students do not come to major in anarchy. Rather their interest is in a quality education which has as its basic foundation the Word of God. It used to be that young people, gen­ erally, wanted to stand up and be counted. Now, with all of the sit- ins at some of these universities and colleges, it seems that they prefer to sit down and be carried. In no sense at Biola do we min­ imize the extreme value of a good education. Young people, as well as those of us who are older, should understand the importance of study. As one philosopher put it, "Education is what you have left over after you have forgotten all that you have learned." (He may have a point there!) Here at Biola we fully realize that there is a dan­ ger of worshipping at the so-called shrine of intellectualism. This is
