Professional Standards Division The Professional Standards Division includes three sections: Internal Affairs, Special Investigations, and Accreditation. The Internal Affairs Section mission is to respond to allegations of misconduct by the agency or its employees and to maintain the integrity of the department and public trust and confidence. The Special Investigations Section is responsible for investigating criminal allegations against employees. The Audits and Accreditation Division researches and creates policies, manages audit standards, and manages the TPCA Recognition and Accreditation Program.

Communications Division and Quality Assurance The Communications Division receives emergency calls for Fort Worth Police, Fire, and ambulance services, forwarding direct telephone lines to refer fire calls to the Fire Department and medical calls to the contract ambulance company. Communications Division is divided into two components; the Communications Unit and the Police Information Center (PIC). The Communications Unit receives requests for service by telephone, dispatches calls for service to officers, who receive assignments and information via radios, Mobile Data Computers (MDCs), and mobile and fixed site telephones. The Police Information Center (PIC) manages the NCIC/TCIC terminal operations for the Police Department under the direction of the Operations Supervisor. Communications PIC receives requests by telephone, radio, teletype, and in person from officers, normally regarding verifying warrants, vehicle registrations, driver’s license information, and performing criminal history returns. Since January 2016, in an effort to enhance officer safety, ensure the efficient allocation of police resources, and provide better service to citizens, the Communications Division implemented the following changes:
