HU-FRIEDY KEY OPINION LEADER DR. MARIUS STEIGMANN
DR. MARIUS STEIGMANN, INSTRUMENTS KIT
The kit is designed to split soft tissue. The soft tissue splitters allow the separation of different layers of soft tissue necessary in different surgical goals. It is useful in periodontology, mucogingival surgery, plastic surgery and oral & maxillofacial surgery. They separates:
Focus on: Perio and Implant Surgery
Country: Germany
• mucosa from periosteum • epithelium from connective tissue • different layers of soft tissue
Favourite Instrument: TKSTEIG2
Separating mucosa from the underlying periosteum for tension free coverage of bone graft. A mucoperiosteal flap is not flexible due to the structure of the periosteum. Mucosa is flexible. By separating mucosa from the underlying periosteum the flap becomes flexible and allows tension free closing of the flap in conjunction with bone graft (horizontal and vertical).

THE SEPARATION TECHNIQUE
The separation technique is made in a stuctured way with the use of instruments in a determinate sequenze. This allows for split thickness – „mucosal detachment“ even in cases of thin Biotype:
• Ability to fi x fl ap to optimal position with the help of periosteal sutures for APF.FGG • Preparation for „steipod“ by detaching the mucosa from the underlying periosteum • Periodontal pocket elimination • Thin marginal bone can be protected by periosteum – connective tissue site
Prepare a full mucoperiosteal flap up to the MGJ (mucogingival juntion), then starting at the MGJ start splitting the periosteum only (0.2-0.5 mm with the first instrument TKSTEIG2) from the inside of the flap with side moves (MD).
Separating mucosa from the underlying periosteum with the second instrument (TKSTEIG) after initial periosteal incision. The moves are sideways (MD) keeping the instrument parallel to the bone surface.
Separated epithelium from underlying mucosa for FGG (free gingival graft)

DID YOU KNOW? All hinged instruments – forceps, rongeurs, scissors, pliers, hemostats, orthodontic pliers, etc. – should be kept lubricated. Regular use of proper lubricants, like Instrument Lubricant Spray ( ILS ), will prevent rust, corrosion and stiff joints to ensure smooth operation. All hinged instruments should be sterilised in the open position.

WHY YOU SHOULD USE AN INSTRUMENT MANAGEMENT SYSTEM (IMS):NFINITY SERIES™ By standardizing your instruments with IMS, additional time and revenue is generated while extending the useful life of your Hu-Friedy instruments. Dental professionals state that by implementing IMS, they save 5 to 10 minutes per procedure allowing the staff to spend more time on value-added activities*. In addition, safer transportation of soiled instruments reduces risk of injury and exposure to blood borne pathogens.

STEIGMANN IMPLANT INSTITUTE
www.steigmann-institute.com TEACHING METHODOLOGY
Participants will learn in theory first how different tissue biotype react different to surgical trauma. For this reason we have adjusted the surgical approach to the biotype (tissue thickness) specific to each patient and location in the oral cavity.
• The Hands on exercise will let the participants practice these specific techniques with specially designed instruments by Dr. Steigmann (micro-instruments & soft tissue splitters).
• Learn Suturing methods with micro-sutures of different composition. Each participants will learn suturing adequate techniques with multifilament, monofilament and PFTE suturing materials. • Specially designed models and pig jaws also extra edited videos for every procedure. The tissue thickness dictates the way it is manipulated for high volume augmentation. The course will describe step by step the gain of soft tissue for tension free closure even in cases of reduced soft tissue thickness. By examples of failure teach how to avoid mistakes. Live surgery can be observed while parallel on different screen the procedure is described by adjunct faculty. Ergonomic equipment and generous lecture and practice rooms enhance the mediation of theoretical and practical educational contents and facilitate the learning of ultra-modern surgical techniques.
Participants discuss their own cases & complications.
Clinicians will learn how to build treatment plans based on individual circumstances. The participants will get to plan prosthetically and aesthetically the position of the implant on special designed models.
