purchased by the then China In land Mission and used until the “ Bamboo Curtain” closed that land to evangelism and foreign missionaries were compelled to leave China. One C.I.M. mission ary commented, “ PTL put CIM on wheels.” Since this initial introduction of the sound trucks into its pro gram, the PTL has equipped over 25 such trucks for use in its world-wide ministry of Scripture distribution and mass evangelism. Many of these trucks have been given by churches, Christian groups, organizations or individ uals. As each new unit is built improvements are made. Dedicat ed electrical engineers eliminated features that had proven ineffec tive or unnecessary. Each new truck provided the men in the field equipment to be used with maximum efficiency and effective ness. The Panamanian freighter Re becca slid slowly into its berth at Saigon’s Pier #4. It contained a precious cargo, the latest PTL Sound Truck for use in South Vietnam. The PTLers in Saigon were on hand to see the Rebecca edge into place along the pier. The ropes were secured, the anchor dropped and then they saw it! The Rebec ca, with the latest PTL sound truck aboard, had docked nose- to-nose with the President Pierce, the freighter which had brought the first PTL sound trucks to China 22 years before! Glenn Wagner, who had been on hand to receive the first ship ment in Shanghai in June, 1946, looked nostalgically at the Presi dent Pierce and told the story of how the Lord miraculously had undertaken in the clearing of those first trucks. We marvelled at this unique coincidence. Yes, it was “ one chance in a million” but strangely blessed with a touch o f Divine approval outside of chance, as we saw how God had spanned the years o f crisis with the ongoing progress of His Word. m
