by Col. A. D. B ra d le y How are the mighty and the great Cut down by death’s com pelling pow’r, O’ertaken by this dismal fate, And helpless in the fateful hour. Yet through the dirge of death’s dark pall, I sense the triumph o’er the foe, And hark! the voice of Heav en’s call And feel the touch of Heaven’s glow. For lo, death’s power has lost its thrall, The grave has lost its victory; Faith still doth triumph over all, And opens Heaven’s courts to thee. Triumphant sweeping through the Gate, Immortal souls exultant go, In joyous grasp of that Estate, Where everlasting glories flow. The statesmen and the sol diers pass Beyond the sorrow, grief and woe, Possess the Heritage and Class, And Heaven’s greatest honors know. Our heartfelt gratitude to thee, Great warrior of a crucial hour, Our highest tribute now to thee, Our Conquering Hero, Eisenhower.
