The Vankleek Hill Cougars dedica- ted their Saturday night home to the memory of Kelly Lefebvre, one of the team’s most loyal fans and valued volunteers. Saturday night at the Vankleek Hill Arena, the start of the game between the Cougars and the Morrisbury Lions was set aside for a dedication ceremony to honour the memory of Kelly Lefebvre, described as «valued member» of the community`s junior hockey club. «It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of one of our longtime vo- lunteers,» stated Cougars officials, «who dedicated so many years to the Vankleek Hill Cougars. She was not only a valued member of our team, but also a kind and caring person whose presence brightened every game, event, and gathering. Her generosity, warmth, and commitment to our community will never be forgotten. She gave her time with a smil and her heart with sincerity, and for that, we are truly grateful. On behalf of the Cougars family, we extend our heartfelt condolences to her family and friend. She will be deeply missed, but her spirit and contributions will always remain a part of our team.» The tribute ceremony included a series The Hawkesbury Hawks suffered two losses this past weekend of games in the Central Canada Hockey League (CCHL) schedule. Last Friday night at home in the Robert Hartley Sports Complex the Ottawa Junior Senators beat the Hawks 7-3. Ottawa got on the scoreboard first with a goal by Thomas Barney midway through first period. Assisting him were Eric Kane and David Deschatelets. Ottawa continued sco- ring through the period with a power-play goal by Deklyn Campbell, from Justin Mongeon and Carter Williamson, two minutes after Barney`s goal, and another power-play point three minutes before the end of the period by Adam Gauthier, assisted by Mongeon and Caleb Mead. Ottawa continued its scoring through second period with goals by Raphael Tellier, from Mongeon and Josh Lachapelle, and power-play points by Hunter Robitaille from Mongeon and Campbell, and by Henry Brady, from Barney and Wynston Iserhoff. Robitaille scored one more goal for Ottawa early in third period, with help from Campbell and Barney. Sunday in St-Isidore The Cougars beat les Aigles de St-Isidore 4-1 Sunday night at the St-Isidore Arena. Cody Horner put the Cougars on the scoreboard with a short-handed goal in the first three minutes of the game. Assisting him were Bradley Horner and Ryder Hill. In second period Nolan Macmillan scored after almost six minutes of ice time, with help from Cody Horner and Garrett Cunning. The last five minutes of the period saw Cody Horner score his second goal of the night, with help from Macmillan and Bradley Horner. The last Cougars goal of the night went in off the stick of Zachary Sullivan early in third period. Assisting him were Hill and Zack Langlois. The Cougars remain in first place in the National Capital Junior Hockey League as the end of the season approaches, with 28 games played for 27 wins and one loss in overtime. Carney, c’est que l’union fait la force particulièrement quand on voit l’instabilité à l’international, de s’unir au pays», a-t-il poursuivi dans les couloirs du Parlement. Son collègue ministre de l’Identité et de la Culture canadiennes, Marc Miller, a renchéri que le premier ministre avait toujours été «de bonne foi» dans ses propos. «Le message en était fondamentalement un d’unité nationale. Je pense qu’il faut s’en tenir à ça, a-t-il dit. Je pense qu’on manque un peu le bateau si on continue avec ce «chamaillement».» Le député de Québec-Centre, Jean-Yves Duclos, qui était aux côtés de M. Carney lors du discours, a écrit sur les réseaux sociaux

Des libéraux défendent – mais pas sur le fond – les propos du premier ministre Mark Carney à qui le gouvernement du Québec reproche de réécrire l’histoire et d’être malhonnête dans sa façon d’avoir présenté la Conquête anglaise dans un discours prononcé cette semaine sur les Plaines d’Abraham. M. Carney fait l’objet de reproches pour avoir déclaré jeudi que les Plaines d’Abra- ham symbolisaient «le lieu où le Canada a commencé à faire le choix historique de privilégier (...) le partenariat plutôt que la domination». Or, l’endroit n’a rien à voir avec un dia- logue interculturel. Il est plutôt le théâtre de la défaite française face aux troupes anglaises, celui d’un changement de régime par la force, et du début d’une tentative d’assimilation linguistique.
