F rom one of o u r classes com posed of H igh school girls com es th e glad cry : “ T h e last girl h a s su rre n d e re d ; now every one of th e class is a Christ-one.** Tw o a p p rec ia tiv e le tte rs h a v e ' com e from th e N orm al school, testifying of th e gracio u s w o rk of th e L ord th ro u g h o u r efficient w o rk e r th ere . E very girl w on th e re a n d stre n g th e n ed b y th e W o rd of God m eans a fu tu re te a c h e r w ho shall be able to influence h u n d red s of y o u n g lives. In one of o u r d istricts w h e re w e have op en ed a chapel w e can re p o rt good p ro g ­ ress. T h e field w as b a rre n of C h ristian influence— n o c h u rch n e ar, no w o rk b e­ in g done, a Godless n eig h borhood, people n o t h aving a tte n d e d c h u rch fo r m any y e ars— o th ers d iverted b y p leasu re, no t caring. h a p p in ess reigns. T h e girls have n e arly $100 now tow ard th e fu rn ish in g of th eir ow n re st ro om in th e new building, a n d a re full of p lan s an d faithful in p ra y e r. T h e re is scarcely a n ig h t w ith o u t som e one o r m o re of th e y o u p g w om en a c c e p t­ in g Jesus a s Saviour. T h e new girls a re seem ingly loved in to th e kingdom a n d w o n d er w hy th ey did n o t com e before. T his w o rk is q u iet b u t fa r-re a ch in g a n d seem s to be ju st p e cu liar to itself. Y oung p eople a re social beings, th ey n eed m o th e r­ in g a n d th e ir h e a rts a re really, tru ly h u n g ry fo r th e best gifts, w hich a re p rom ­ ised th em in th e W o rd of God. T h is trio of reasons is q u ite sufficient cause fo r th e b rin g in g in to life of th e L yceum Club. T h e girls a re h elped in every tim e of stress a n d need, th ey find sym p ath y an d counsel w aitin g fo r them , a n d a re stre n g th e n ed to do m ore valian t a n d ef­ ficient service in th e ir churches, schools, hom es o r business places. T h ey a re le a rn ­ ing th a t C h ristian girls can help girls b e t­ te r th a n a n y o n e else is able to do it. T h e w o rk is co-operative a n d th e blessings all sh ared . O u r God sees fit to use this un iq u e club to th e help a n d upb u ild in g of h u n d re d s of girls in o u r city, a n d w e feel th a t g re a te r blessings aw ait in th e fu tu re. O ne m u st see th e w o rk a n d w atch its sim ple m ethods to in an y w ise a p p rec ia te it, a n d th en w e can scarcely u n d e rstan d it. W e can only be th an k fu l fo r it.
