The Wordshop is a small, home-based writing school for tweens and teens. We have two primary goals: encourage and support kids who love to write and demystify the arbitrary rules of school-based writing.
Cost is $20 per Girl Scout (includes badge); $15 for additional attendees for a two-hour workshop. Contact Kristin Marciniak at kristin@opwordshop.com for a quote and to begin looking at dates. Weekends and weekday afternoons are good for the instructor. You can also ask if the instructor is available during the evening.

Come play in the clay! This two-part adventure to explores the art of pottery - from hand building their own work of art or throwing pottery on the pottery wheel. In the first session, Girls will craft their masterpiece. In the second session, Girls will glaze their art and have their pieces refired. A pottery piece isn’t completed until it’s decorated. Explore the different techniques of ceramic painting and glazing. Girls will select from a variety of different ceramic pieces, including Girl Scout-licensed pieces, and then put the techniques they learned into action.

Read and write poems, craft a short story, and learn the ins and outs of personal narratives to earn the Scribe badge. Supplies and set-up are minimal. Instructor will bring her own chart paper and easel if a whiteboard is not available; girls will need notebooks and writing utensils. Families are welcome to attend! (In that case, the attendee limit is 20 Girl Scouts, not people.) Learn how to write for the big and small screen. We’ll talk about what makes a good script great, brainstorm ideas for a story, create characters, build a plot, and start writing our own scripts to earn the Screenwriter badge.
