Collaboration with the Qatar Research Development and Innovation Council (QRDI) QRDI Think Bay, Qatar 28 November 2024
The Qatar Research Development and Innovation Council (QRDI) visited MIGHT and MOSTI in 2024. They were impressed by the Global Innovation Index (GII) data model software and analysis that MIGHT prepared for MOSTI in 2023. As a result, QRDI engaged MIGHT to replicate a similar version of the GII software and analysis to meet Qatar’s specific requirements. In November 2024, MIGHT’s GII study team visited QRDI in Qatar to kick-start the project and shared Malaysia’s GII experience with members of QRDI. The project is expected to be completed by June 2025, with a second phase already being planned. This collaboration stems from MIGHT’s Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with QRDI signed in 2023. It has provided MIGHT with the opportunity to venture beyond Malaysia, and MOSTI the chance to expand Government-to-Government activities with Qatar. Besides showcasing Malaysia’s achievements in the GII, this collaboration also serves as a mutual learning platform for both MIGHT and QRDI to further explore the GII and provide better guidance to both governments on improving their country rankings in the Global Innovation Index.
