Driving Sustainable Innovation Through the Surfa Project: A Malaysia–Spain Collaboration

As part of ongoing efforts under the Surfa Project, the Malaysian-Spain Innovating Programme (MYSIP) a collaboration between MIGHT and the Department of Higher Education (JPT) visited TASBLOCK Sdn Bhd to explore progress in developing innovative, sustainable roofing materials. The Surfa Project focuses on the feasibility of utilising recycled polymers and natural fibres to produce wood-plastic composites (WPC) for environmentally friendly roofing solutions, aligning with global sustainability goals. MYSIP is a bilateral initiative between MIGHT and Spain’s Centre for the Development of Industrial Technology, E.P.E. (CDTI). The programme supports market-driven research and technology development, fostering business-led R&D&I collaborations between Malaysian and Spanish organisations. This initiative not only promotes sustainable materials innovation but also strengthens international ties in the field of industrial technology.
