World Bank Group Malaysia Work Program 2025 – 2030 Stakeholder Consultation Workshop Kuala Lumpur 13 May 2024

MIGHT participated in a stakeholder consultation session organised by the Ministry of Finance (MOF) Malaysia and the World Bank Group (WBG) to review the WBG Malaysia Country Office Work Programme for 2025-2030 under the Office Support Agreement (OSA) 3.0. Mr Abu Bakar @ Salleh bin Hj Jambol, the Undersecretary, International Division of MOF and Dr. Yasuhiko Matsuda, WBG’s country manager for Malaysia, highlighted the five-year partnership focused on Malaysia’s development goals, knowledge sharing, and economic research.

Key discussions revolved around six priority areas: Competitive and Resilient Economy, Human Capital and Prosperity for All, Sustainable and Islamic Finance, Transition to Net Zero and Climate Resilience, Regional and Global Leadership in Development Knowledge, and Strengthening Macro Fiscal Management, Governance, and Competitiveness. With the rebranding of the WBG office to an Inclusive Growth and Sustainable Finance Hub, Malaysia aims to achieve inclusive growth and sustain its global leadership in sustainable finance. This agreement signifies Malaysia’s shift from a ‘shareholder and borrower’ to a ‘shareholder and development partner,’ enhancing its role as a regional investment hub.
