A MESSAGE FROM HEAD OF YEAR 10

This week Year 10 honoured Remembrance Day by thinking about the importance of remembrance Sunday and why it is that we observe this day. This focus time was followed by a minute’s silence while some students played the last post for the whole school. For a few weeks we have been selling poppies at reception to help support members of the armed forces overcome issues such as depression, chronic pain and PTSD. See The Poppy Appeal for more information. On Friday afternoons during registration we have been doing a ‘word of the week’ focus (see page 3 for this week’s word) where students are introduced to a new word that they need to try and use in everyday conversation. This is to build students’ confidence in using more sophisticated vocabulary and allow them to learn some new words. Hopefully Year 10 pupils have found this interesting!

Congratulations to 10PGU for getting the most epraise points this week. Well done!

A reminder that on Monday 25th November, the school is closed to students due to a staff training Day.

MRS PORTEOUS, HEAD OF YEAR 10

BOOK OF THE MONTH

‘The Agathas’ - Kathleen Glasgow & Liz Lawson

A dramatic and intriguing detective thriller, The Agathas focuses on two girls; Alice Ogilvie, an amateur (but stubborn) detective and Iris Addams, a super-smart girl with plenty of trouble on her mind. They’re pulled together suddenly when one of their town’s most popular girls, Brooke Donovan, disappears one stormy night after a party- and it seems that everyone is chasing after the wrong guy. With the police being as lazy as possible and missing some real big clues, it’s time for them to spring into their first case! Really good for anyone who loves an absolutely thrilling modern mystery.
