UNITED STATES AND RUSSIA NOT ON BOARD WITH FIGHT ON CYBERCRIME At the Paris Peace Forum in France, 50 nations and over 150 tech companies pledged to do more to fight criminal activity on the internet, from hate speech to interference in government elections, surprising the United States was not one of them, either was Russia. The group of governments and companies pledge in a signed document to work together to prevent malicious activities like online censorship and the theft of trade secrets. The declaration released Monday is supported by EU coun- tries, Japan and Canada as well as tech giants Facebook, Google and Microsoft, among others
IPHONE MISSING ITS MARK NOW AFFECTING OTHERS Lumentum, a manufacturer that makes lasers capable of sensing in 3-D and the company creates components for the front-facing camera of Apple’s newer iPhones that enable FaceID and augmented reality reported reduced shipment request from one of its biggest customers, in its annual filing for fiscal year 2018.
However, Lumentum did not mention Apple by name in the filing, but does follow Nikkei reports that Apple stopped a production boost for its new iPhone XR.
Both of these announcements do not look good for Apple and the success of the company’s latest iPhones as the buyers go into the holiday season.
