By Arleen Atienza I f you’ve never been in a motorcycle accident, it’s impos- sible to know exactly how it feels. Different people report experiencing an accident differently. Some say that everything happened in slow motion, just like it does in the movies. Others can hardly remember what happened at all, given that it went by so fast. The human mind and the human body have different ways of reacting to trauma. For some people, the pain after a motorcycle accident is excruciating while for others, adrenalin kicks in, preventing them from feeling anything. Although it’s helpful when the adrenalin kicks in and you’re prevented from feeling the pain of a broken bone, you still have to make sure that you move carefully so that you don’t make your injuries worse. Putting your weight on a leg which is already broken can result in more breaks. So, make sure that you keep your broken limb as still as possible and wait until you get help from the professionals. Keeping Your Broken Limbs Still

So, don’t try to be brave and go home despite any pain you might be feeling. Make sure that someone qualified looks at your injuries right away and tells you what you need to do to make them better, whether that involves a cast, medica- tion, a belt, bed rest, surgery etc.

Don’t Be Fooled by the Effects of Adrenalin

In some cases, you’ll know that professional help is needed because the pain will be excruciating. But even if it’s not, keep in mind that that’s probably because of the adrenalin. Your body is trying to deal with the pain in the only way it knows how. But that doesn’t mean that everything is ok and professional help is not required. Chances are a motorcycle accident is going to lead to some breaks or at the very least bruises. So, it’s a good idea to get everything checked out thoroughly and get the treat- ment you require and to error on the side of cautions to be safe rather than sorry. Getting Professional Help Quickly

It’s important to get professional help as fast as possible. If your broken limb doesn’t get into a cast right away, it might swell up, making the process much more difficult later.
