Y11 Bulletin 15.11.24

A MESSAGE FROM HEAD OF YEAR 11

On Monday we honoured Remembrance Day with a number of pupils and staff performing ‘The Last Post’, this was followed by a minute’s silence with the whole school paying their respects.

This week the students finished off their final mock exams and returned back to normal lessons. Papers will be marked over the next few weeks following which teachers will be giving feedback to all pupils. Many teachers and support staff have remarked about how well the Year 11 students have conducted themselves around their mock exams, so many students visibly working hard with their revision in their break times. A big well done to everyone for coming through a very challenging two weeks. We are very pleased to be writing lots of references for students applying to a number of different sixth forms and colleges. We encourage all students to apply for at least three options for their further education to ensure they have choices on results day in the summer.

Next week Year 11 can settle back into their usual timetables continuing the curriculum for the year.

MRS ROOK, HEAD OF YEAR 11

BOOK OF THE MONTH

‘The Agathas’ - Kathleen Glasgow & Liz Lawson

A dramatic and intriguing detective thriller, The Agathas focuses on two girls; Alice Ogilvie, an amateur (but stubborn) detective and Iris Addams, a super-smart girl with plenty of trouble on her mind. They’re pulled together suddenly when one of their town’s most popular girls, Brooke Donovan, disappears one stormy night after a party- and it seems that everyone is chasing after the wrong guy. With the police being as lazy as possible and missing some real big clues, it’s time for them to spring into their first case! Really good for anyone who loves an absolutely thrilling modern mystery.
