Gilling Dod Space Matters - Interior Design for Wellbeing

As part of our research and future development strategy, it is essential to stay aligned with emerging trends and market demands. This includes analysing industry reports, design publications, and gathering insights into client preferences. Our research focus’s on sourcing innovative materials, exploring new technologies (smart solutions and Building Information Modelling (BIM)), and collaborating with suppliers to enhance project outcomes. Sustainability is a key priority, driving the exploration of energy-efficient designs, sustainable materials, and biophilic principles to improve wellbeing. Incorporating equality, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) into our design practice is fundamental to creating spaces that respect and accommodate diverse needs. This involves designing inclusive spaces that are accessible, equitable, and reflective of cultural diversity, ensuring all individuals can engage with and benefit from our designs. Wellbeing focused interior design is also a priority, integrating elements that promote physical, mental, and emotional health. We focus on biophilic design, ergonomic comfort, natural light, acoustic comfort, and flexibility to create environments that enhance both productivity and quality of life. Additionally, collaborating with experts by experience (individuals with firsthand knowledge of specific needs and challenges) is integral in shaping our designs. Their insights ensures we create spaces that are truly functional and meet the ideal design requirements for all users. Our continuous professional development, and the use of client feedback to refine and improve our designs, ensures they meet evolving needs and enhance overall wellbeing.

The resulting designs and model bedroom perfectly reflected the feedback gained from this extensive consultation; offering the predictability, comfort and control necessary to provide sanctuary during times of emotional or sensory stress. “
